Country Stage - Saturday Aug. 19th

  • Aces & Eights - Saturday Aug. 19th

If you are looking for artists that will bring the nostalgia of real country music to your venue, festival, or event you won’t need to look any further than Harland Allen and Kimberly Bachman of Aces & Eights Classic Country Music;  a traditional country music duo from the Black Hills of South Dakota.  Their music clearly reflects a commitment to bring back the roots of country music.

Listeners find themselves on a journey back to a simpler time when country music was authentic; no fluff added.  This very tradition reveals itself in the masterful guitar licks, old time banjo, and sweet mandolin melodies in correlation with the strong leads and the beautiful harmonies of Aces & Eights. You won’t be disappointed listening to the traditional country sounds of Aces & Eights.

Just announcedtheir new CD “the Heart of Country Music” was chosen as 2017 CD of the Year by the Rural Roots Commission.  Their 2016 CD, “No Fluff Added” was CD of the Year by two (2) organizations; South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame and National Traditional Country Music Association.

Featured artists on South Dakota Public Radio in February 2017.  Bob Everhart, President of  NTCMA for 42 years writes, “America is bombasted with the phony these days, but being a gambler for every CD I listen to, hoping for the real deal, the best one so far is “Aces and Eights” who are not only totally ‘retro’ they have all the elements that make that word reliable and honest.  No wonder they took a “CD of the Year” award from the Rural Roots Music Commission in 2016″

Josh Hilpert is a family, friends, and music enthusiast who lives near Sturgis, South Dakota.  An alumnus of the storied East River psychedelic band Animalcule (2000-2005), he’s now in his third decade of playing and performing and enjoys sharing his “campfire style”—a stripped-down blend of old-time, folk, and classic country influences—with audiences.  Also an obsessive hiker, Josh escapes often into the Black Hills backcountry, where you might catch the occasional glimpse of him trailing two eager dogs.

  • Stacy Block - Saturday Aug. 19th

I have been playing and singing since 1978. I was raised in McIntosh, South Dakota, and attended Black Hills State College, and graduated in 1988. I went on to receive my masters in counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I have been playing guitar all my life and have played both rhythm and lead for all those years in many different bands. This brought a variety of skills to my Acoustic Performances that make my shows enjoyable to those of all ages.

Not only do I play my originals but I can blend a mixture of classic country, new country, 50;s and 60’s, classic rock and modern rock, as well as some bluegrass and folk. I won the 2002 Colgate Country Showdown Title and continue to blend country and rock into my shows. I have been legally blind since 1992, and have a de-generative eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, and have slowly lost vision over the past twenty five years.

I have been playing as a musician throughout my entire life, both in country and rock bands. I am currently the lead singer and lead guitarist for the band "Double Vision," who plays throughout the Dakotas and Wyoming. I play a mixture of country and rock cover tunes, but am now performing my own original material as well.

My style is a result of what my dad taught me and a variety of musicians along the way such as Chuck Berry, Johnny Rivers, Kiss, Lynard Skynrd and George Strait. I am now playing original music at my shows and will be playing acoustic guitar for my solo performances. I am in the process of recording a solo CD that will be available this summer. It will be a blend of Country, Bluegrass, and folk.

I had the pleasure to open up for Mark Wills. In September of 2012 I  opened up for Sawyer Brown, and in 2010 opened up  for Reverend Paytend’s Big Dam Band. I have also performed around the area for festivals and street dances. Hope to see you at a show soon.
